…in a twisted sort of way I am doomed to be buried alive in cadmium orange, red, yellow light with flowers on my grave of magenta violet, and my casket being the canvas for forcefully having to wrap, walk, and slide into it everyday like the wan [P]russian blue shore and the shore the tree the leaf the wind the end.
Bob Thompson
He was like a force of nature sweeping in, then sweeping out, leaving an indelible memory on all who encountered him
– Thelma Golden
Bob Thompson lived his life with pure passion, a passion for painting, expressing his life through pigment, colors orange, red, yellow, violet and magenta. He lived life full speed, without abandon until he died in Rome, Italy in 1966. In a letter to his family, he stated, “If you can understand I want to paint — paint, paint! Paint! Paint! And then paint more & more. I’m what is jokingly called an esthetic junkie — I’m hooked on pigment, so please forgive me and most of all believe in me. In the period of 7 years, he painted over 1,000 paintings until his death. He studied the great masters in Europe and at home in New York City he filled his life with the great masters of Jazz.
I’m honored to give insight into the life of one of the great African American Artist who lived and painted during some of the most turbulent times in America history, and yet Bob Thompson thrived.
This documentary is very personal to me; you see Bob Thompson is my uncle and I want to share his incredible story with you.

Jeff Cooper
My entire life has been filled with music and art, which has given me a unique vision. While performing all over the world with the multi-platinum group “Midnight Star” for twenty years, I could expand my vision further and understand what real dedication, passion, and creativity are. I feel that I have a special sense for what connects people after traveling the globe.
I have discovered that media is truly an extension of the soul; when you find what connects you with your audience; magic is created. I’d like to connect to your soul and create that magic for you!
